With the merging of holistic medicine into the ranks of more
traditional medicine, it is imperative that the traditional
medical assistant join ranks with that of the massage therapist
to better understand and broaden the employment ranks of both
professions.
By seeking to join the ranks of both programs through
programmatic accreditation it is hoped that a keener awareness of
the professionalism of massage therapy and its use in the medical
field will be more widely accepted. Sports medicine and holistic
medicine as well as physical therapy and occupational therapy
have used massage therapy as part of their medical practice.
