You will learn strong medical vocabulary, solid communication skills and medical office procedures in order to apply them in a medical setting such as a hospital records room, physician's office, medical laboratory or allied health organization.

Medical Transcriptionist - Associate's or Diploma

As a medical transcriptionist you will listen to dictated recordings made by health care professionals and generate medical reports and other administrative material. You will then return the documents to the health care professionals who dictated them for review and signature. These documents become part of patients' permanent files.

You may also have other duties such as receiving patients, scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, and handling incoming and outgoing mail.
