Respiratory Therapy - Associate'sBack to topThe objective of the Respiratory Therapy program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills and work habits required for an entry-level position in the Respiratory Therapy field or related areas. Graduates of this program may, under the supervision of a physician, administer respiratory therapy care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. The program prepares students to take the assessment exams administered by the National Board of Respiratory Care in order to achieve the Certified Respiratory Therapist and Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials. The objective of the Medical Assistant program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required for an entry-level position in Medical Assisting or related areas. Graduates of this program may work under the direction of the physician in private or group practices, clinics, and other medical facilities. Graduates may choose to specialize in front or back office duties, or diversify and do both. Veterinary Technology - Associate'sBack to topIf you have a love of animals and an interest in animal health, nursing, and husbandry, becoming a veterinary technician could be the career for you. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment of veterinary technologists and technicians is expected to grow much faster than average through 2014. It attributes this to the fact that pet owners are becoming more affluent and willing to pay for advanced care because many of them consider their pet to be part of the family. The Associate of Occupational Studies in Veterinary Technology program focuses on the handling and health care management of a variety of species including-though not limited to-cats, dogs, exotics, lab animals, horses, cattle, small ruminants, and birds. The program provides you with both the classroom and clinical experience that you will need to apply for an entry-level position as a veterinary technician. Graduates of the program may be eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Examinations.
