Founded in Miami, Florida as the Florida Programming and
Educational Center, the school's first classes began in 1982. In
2003, the Center changed its name to Florida Career College.
Through the years, the school has grown and expanded with
additional courses and programs developed to match student skills

This 24-month program is designed to prepare graduates for
entry-level employment as a medical office administrator in
medical offices, clinics and hospitals. Upon completion, the
graduate will possess working knowledge of: medical assisting;
medical coding and billing; medical terminology; anatomy; human
diseases; pharmacology; basic medical office procedures and
clinical medical assisting skills. Students will also learn front
office procedures such as: handling patient accounts and records,
word processing and scheduling of patients.
Massage Therapy Technician - Diploma

This 9-month program trains the graduate for employment as a
licensed massage therapist. Upon completion, the graduate will
possess a working knowledge of the following: theory and practice
of massage; theory and practice of hydrotherapy; hygiene;
practice demonstration; human anatomy and physiology; ethical and
legal aspects of massage practice; allied modalities; leadership
and human relation skills; health and safety; CPR and
employability skills.
Medical Assistant Technician - Diploma

This 12-month program prepares the graduate for entry-level
employment as a medical assistant technician in medical offices
and clinics using in-house medical labs and/or X-ray facilities.
Upon completion, the graduate will possess a working knowledge
of: medical terminology; anatomy; human diseases; pharmacology;
basic medical office procedures and clinical medical assisting
skills. Students will learn front office procedures such as
handling patient accounts and records, word processing and
scheduling of patients.
Students will also learn back office procedures such as: taking
patient histories and vital signs; preparing patients for
procedures; assisting the physician with examinations and
treatments; performing selected diagnostic tests as directed by
the physician and basic medical laboratory and X-ray procedures.
Medical Coding and Billing Specialist - Diploma

This 12-month program is designed to prepare individuals with
prior medical knowledge for entry-level employment as a medical
coder/biller in health care facilities such as: hospitals;
clinics; physician practice groups; surgery centers; long term
facilities and home health care agencies. Upon completion, the
graduate will possess a working knowledge of: medical
terminology; anatomy; human diseases; pharmacology and basic
medical coding and billing skills. The program includes courses
in medical documentation, translation into numerical codes and
assigning and sequencing diagnostic and procedural codes using
universally recognized coding systems.
