Professional competence requires that Radiologic Technologists
apply their knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning and
radiographic technique in the performance of their job duties.
These professionals must also be able to communicate effectively
with patients and other healthcare professionals. Additional
duties may include processing of film, evaluating radiologic
equipment, managing a radiographic quality assurance program and
providing patient education relevant to specific imaging
procedures.
The Radiologic Technologist displays personal attributes of
compassion, courtesy and concern in meeting the special needs of
the patient.
Radiologic Technologists take x-rays and administer contrast
medias for diagnostic purposes. They explain procedures and
position patients so that the parts of the body can be
appropriately radiographed, using protection devices such as lead
shields. With the correct angle and height over the target area,
they set controls to produce radiographs of the appropriate
density, detail and contrast. Then, they expose and develop the
film. Other duties may include keeping patient records,
preparation of work schedules or even managing a radiology
department.

Most Respiratory Therapists work with hospital patients in three
distinct phases of care: diagnosis, treatment and patient
management. Treatment may range from giving emergency relief to
patients with asthma or long term care for chronic conditions
such as emphysema.

Dental Assistants perform a variety of patient care duties in the
office and laboratory. They assist dentists chairside, take
x-rays, maintain records and equipment, prepare patients for
treatment and instruct patients in oral hygiene.
Courses include dental office administration, dental anatomy and
physiology, preventive dentistry as well as chairside assisting
theory and lab.
We also offer our Expanded Duties Dental Assistant (EDDA)
program. Day classes are 12 consecutive Saturdays for a total of
