The objective of the Clinical Massage Therapy Certificate program
is for students to obtain the skills required by health care and
personal service employers in a myriad of settings including
salons, fitness centers, medical offices, hospitals,
rehabilitation and chiropractic clinics and resorts. Students
will learn the basics of Swedish, sports and chair massage, as
well as anatomy, physiology, pathology, massage ethics and more.
Graduates through this certificate program are eligible to sit
for national certification through the National Certification
Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCTMB).
Graduates may qualify for employment in a wide variety of
settings, or they may even begin their own massage practice.
Although the program is designed to prepare students to take
various certification or licensing exams, the college cannot
guarantee students will pass those exams. In some cases, field
experience may be necessary to be eligible to take or to
successfully pass the exams.
Medical Assistant - Certificate & Associate's
Back to top
The objective of the medical assistant program is to develop a
competent, professional, multi-skilled practitioner for today's
interactive health care team. Graduates will provide flexibility
to the medical staff by exhibiting a broad range of
administrative laboratory and clinical skills.
Students are required to pass a physical examination, blood test
and TB test prior to externship, as well as obtain health and
liability insurance. Graduates of the program may qualify to
perform duties under the direction of a physician in private or
group practices, clinics, ambulatory care settings, blood banks,
nursing homes and other medical facilities. This program will
assist students in preparing for the Registered Medical Assistant
(RMA) exam, the National Certified Medial Assistant (NCMA exam,
the Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT), the National
Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT) and the National Certified
Insurance & Coding Specialist (NCICS) exams. The RMA and RPT
are sponsored by the National Center for Competency Testing.
Medical Coding & Billing - Certificate
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the health care
industry will continue to grow through 2014 due to innovative
medical technology and a growing population of seniors who
require care. Not all health care jobs require patient contact,
such as a career in medical coding and billing, and Kaplan
College can provide the education and career training you need
for entry-level employment in this field.
Medical Office Administration - Associate's
Back to top
The objective of the medical office administration program is to
provide students with the technical and management skills
required by employers in health care services such as clinics,
insurance companies, laboratories, hospitals and private offices.
In addition to medical office specialization, the student will
also be prepared to obtain four employer-coveted Microsoft Office
Specialist (MOS) Certifications at the expert level and Medical
Coding and Insurance Billing Certification.
Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork - Associate's
Back to top
The objective of the therapeutic massage and bodywork program is
an extension of the Clinical Massage Therapy Certificate program
and provides graduates with an Associate of Applied Science
degree. The associate's degree program provides advanced
holistic, clinical and technical skills not offered in the
certificate program, such as the study of common sports injuries,
the theory and techniques of reflexology, acupressure, trigger
point therapy, myofascial technique, cranio-scaral and lymphatic
therapies, aromatherapy, hydrotherapy, vichy shower treatments,
and various body wraps.
Graduates from both programs will obtain the skills required by
health care and personal service employers in a myriad of
settings including salons, fitness centers, medical offices,
hospitals, rehabilitation and chiropractic clinics, and resorts.
Graduates are eligible to sit for national certification through
the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and
Bodywork (NCTMB).
Graduates of the program may qualify for employment in private
practice offices, clinics, acute and sub-acute care hospitals,
assisted living, physical therapy, occupational therapy and
rehabilitation centers, chiropractic clinics, schools or patient
