Dental Assistant - Diploma
The objective of the dental assistant program is to prepare
students for an entry-level position as a dental assistant in a
dental office, clinic or lab environment, with the skills for
advancement in the dental field, depending upon the student's
goals.
The main job skills students will learn are treatment room care
of the dental patient and how to assist the dentist, infection
control and sterilization, medical emergencies, taking dental
x-rays, impressions, use of various dental instruments, oral
evacuation, fixed prosthodontics, pharmacology and pain control,
preventive dentistry, and how to assist with oral surgery and
tray setups.
Graduates will be prepared for entry-level positions in private
dental offices, group practices, public and private hospitals,
public health institutions, clinics, dental insurance agencies,
and for dental product distributors. Graduates can continue to
grow in their careers and become office managers, enter a dental
sales position, or obtain a position at a research facility or
insurance company.

As a professional Medical Assistant, graduates can work in
private physicians' offices and may have a combination of
administrative and clinical responsibilities. Medical Assistants
are often found in clinics, hospital admissions, patient records
and insurance departments. Some Medical Assistants find
employment in medical labs or blood banks.
Graduates of this program may perform duties in both the
administrative and clinical areas of a doctor's office, clinic or
other medical facility. Some graduates may specialize in either
clinical or administrative duties, but most perform duties in
both areas. Specific duties may include assisting the physician
with exams and minor surgery, administering medication,
performing electrocardiographs, phlebotomy, minor laboratory
procedures, taking vital signs, interviewing patients for medical
histories, medical record documentation, reception duties,
insurance billing, and bookkeeping duties.
The objective of the Medical Assistant program is to prepare
students with the knowledge, technical skills and work habits
required for entry-level positions in the healthcare field. This
program includes instruction in both the clinical and
administrative aspects of medical assisting, anatomy and
physiology, and CPR certification. Graduation is acknowledged by
awarding a diploma upon completion of the program. Graduates may
become Certified Medical Assistants by passing the Certified
Medical Assistant Examination.
Medical Office Specialist - Diploma

The objective of the medical office specialist program is to
prepare students with knowledge, technical skills and work habits
required for an entry-level position in the medical field in a
private physician's office, clinic, hospital clerical department
or other medical facility. This program includes instruction in
computerized medical procedures such as insurance, bookkeeping,
word processing and transcription.
Graduates of this program may perform duties in any medical
administrative or hospital administrative office. Specific duties
may include filing insurance claims for both group and private
practice insurance, CPT and ICD-9 coding, DRGs, medical
transcription, accounts payable and receivable, patient files and
filing systems, payroll and financial statements, and reception
duties.
This program is represented to lead to multiple job opportunities
