Massage Therapy - Diploma
This program blends training in therapeutic massage with knowledge of the structure and function of the human body. In addition, the curriculum provides students with training in hydrotherapy, Florida massage law and the most current allied modalities. This program will adequately prepare students for their role in the health care community.
The objective of the program is to prepare students for the Florida State Board/National Certification Examination for licensure by developing the skills necessary to meet the needs of the health care community. Upon passage of the examination, graduates seek employment as entry-level licensed massage therapists. We strive to give students a thorough working knowledge of the structure and function of the human body and the theory of natural health care methodologies. Our program prepares the graduate to assume responsibilities in the health care field with a high degree of professionalism. A licensed massage therapist should be:
- Competent in the performance of massage and the use of hydrotherapy
- Familiar with exercise programs which can help the musculoskeletal system
- Knowledgeable in the use of techniques to help specific problems such as neck, back, sciatic pain, relaxation, stress reduction and muscle spasms
- Acquainted with allied modalities currently being practiced
- Able to use skills which promote the health and wellness of clients
