Externships are a valuable part of most programs offered at
Branford Hall. The purpose of the externship is to provide
students with the opportunity to apply their skills and gain
experience in a medical environment before graduation.
Students generally serve their externship during their last term.
The Career Services department assists students in securing
externships. Branford also assists graduates in securing entry
level positions that will lead to fulfilling their career
objectives.
Financial Aid

Branford Hall offers our students financial support from various
aid programs. Some of these funds originate from federal
financial aid programs as well as in house financing plans. Our
financial aid counselors work with students to tailor programs to
meet their individual needs.
Medical Assistant - Diploma
The Medical Assistant program prepares students for an
entry-level position in health care that allows them to assist
the doctor through laboratory tests, the operation of diagnostic
equipment and preparing case histories and medical reports.
Students will learn to:
- Do venipuncture
- Take and mount an EKG
- Prepare a patient for examination
- Do basic diagnostic laboratory procedures on medical
equipment commonly found in a doctor’s office or medical
laboratory
- Prepare insurance forms and medical histories.
Students spend approximately 30% of their time in a lab
environment, which emphasizes the material covered in lecture and
homework. The training is designed to prepare students for an
entry-level position as a medical assistant in a
physician’s office, medical clinic or other related
facility.
Medical Biller - Diploma
Medical billers are professionals who prepare, submit and/or
process insurance claims for doctor’s offices, hospitals,
extended care facilities, diagnostic centers, insurance
companies and other health related facilities.
Through exposure to medical law, students become familiar with
their legal responsibilities as a medical biller. The program
prepares students for an entry level position by gaining exposure
to terminology, insurance forms, diagnostic and procedural codes
and procedures involved in processing medical insurance claims.
