Certified Nursing Assistant - DiplomaBack to topGraduates of this diploma program possess the skills necessary to objectively observe, document and report pertinent information to other health care team members in order to provide personalized care and comfort. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse in medical or rehabilitation facilities or home health care, certified nursing assistant graduates are prepared for several career paths, including nursing assistant, home health aide and restorative aide. Students who complete this program are eligible to become certified by taking the CNA Examination administered by Experior Testing Services for the Arizona State Board of Nursing. Graduates of the medical assistant program will be prepared to assist physicians in medical office examinations; perform basic laboratory skills and procedures; record, monitor and mount electrocardiograms. In the front office, the medical assistant will perform the administrative duties of the office including bookkeeping, record management, appointment scheduling, insurance and medical practice management. Since medical assistants are trained in both administrative and clinical procedures, they are capable of filling a variety of positions, including medical assistant, clinical or administrative assistant and medical receptionist. After completing the program, students possessing a high school diploma or GED are eligible to take the certified medical assistant examination offered by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or the registered medical assistant examination offered by the American Medical Technologists (AMT), to become a registered medical assistant. Medical Office Billing and Coding Specialist - DiplomaBack to topStudents in the medical office billing and coding specialist diploma program study medical terminology as it relates to various anatomical systems and related infirmities. Students study coding and prepare insurance claim forms both manually and by computer. They also practice documentation skills. Graduates of this program will perform administrative duties in many areas of a medical office, including front office, specialty departments and office management. Graduates find employment in entry-level positions at hospitals, clinics, doctors' offices, insurance companies, HMOs, nursing homes, schools and rehabilitation centers with job titles such as medical receptionist, medical secretary, medical office manager, medical biller/coder and medical records clerk. Patient Care Technician - DiplomaBack to topGraduates of this diploma program can perform basic laboratory skills related to phlebotomy, hematology and urinalysis. They also perform acute care skills required in hospitals, nursing homes, extended care facilities or as members of a home health care team. Students possessing a high school diploma or GED are eligible to take the national PCT certification test given by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), if they have achieved CNA certification. Pharmacy Technician - Diploma Graduates of this diploma program work in pharmacy environments such as HMO pharmacies, hospital pharmacies and retail pharmacies such as those found in drug stores and supermarkets. This program provides students with the theory and hands-on experience needed to obtain employment as a pharmacy technician. Students and graduates of this program are eligible to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification test.
