Medix School is a registered private career college specializing
in the training of personnel for health care careers. Medix
School was founded in 1969 and has been providing professional
health care training in Ontario since 1993.
Full-time health care diploma programs range in length from 21-88
weeks. All full-time programs include mandatory
clinical/practical field placements. Medix School offers a number
of part-time and weekend programs.
The objective of the intra-oral dental assisting program is to
train students to attain skills and demonstrate competence in
essential dental office procedures and laboratory techniques.
These areas of study include preliminary examination procedures,
assisting at chair side using fourhanded dentistry, charting,
appointment scheduling, keeping patient records and sterilizing
instruments. Students will learn to expose and develop
radiographs. Students receive extensive training in all
intra-oral skills.

participants with the necessary entry-level technical, business
and professional skills for competency and confidence in the
field of massage therapy.

Medical & General Lab Assistant - Diploma

The objective of the medical and general lab assistant program is
to train students to acquire skills and demonstrate competence in
a variety of medical office procedures and laboratory techniques
under the direct supervision of a physician, medical lab
technologist or other health care professional.
The medical procedures and lab techniques include ECGs, vital
signs, urinalysis, phlebotomy, specimen collection, solution
preparation and routine lab preparation of patient specimens.
Areas of expertise will include clinical chemistry, hematology,
cytology, microbiology and histology. Front office skills include
typing, word processing, patient data collection, insurance
claims processing, bookkeeping and reception. Students are
evaluated in all areas of professional and performance skills.

The objective of the medical office assistant program is to allow
students to acquire satisfactory skills and demonstrate
competence in a variety of medical office administrative and
clinical skills necessary for employment in health care related
settings. Students will be taught bookkeeping, billing and
collection, records management, patient data collection, typing,
transcription, word processing, Microsoft Office (Word &
Excel), appointment scheduling, written correspondence and
telephone techniques.
Personal Support Worker - Diploma

The objective of the personal support worker program is to equip
students with the clinical skills and competence in a variety of
clinical and interactive skills necessary for employment in a
community or health care setting.
The responsibilities of the personal support worker include
assisting with personal hygiene, mobility, household management,
meal preparation, ongoing medical conditions and medications,
documentation procedures and vital signs. The personal support
worker will also be skilled in cognitive impairment and mental
health issues, as well as providing optimal support and care
planning.
Pharmacy Assistant- Diploma

The pharmacy assistant program is designed to prepare students
for employment in retail and hospital pharmacies as well as in
many settings where a strong knowledge of pharmacology is an
asset. Students should have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy
working as a team member and with the public. Basic math and
computer skills, and some knowledge of human biology are also
required.
Graduates of this program learn classes of therapeutic
medications, compounding of medication orders, sterile
preparations, how to deal with insurance companies and ODB and
generic and brand name medications.
