The Medical Assistant diploma program is designed to prepare
students for entry-level positions as multi-skilled health care
professionals who work primarily in ambulatory settings such as
medical offices and clinics. Students learn to perform
administrative and clinical procedures in accordance with the
standards of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health
Education Programs (CAAHEP). The program covers medical law and
ethics and human relations as it relates to the medical field. To
give students a complete background in this field, anatomy and
physiology, medical terminology and laboratory procedures are
taught, offering the knowledge needed to succeed as a Medical
Assistant. In the ever-changing field of medical assisting,
students are kept current with courses in Medical Computer
Applications and Medical Machine Transcription.

The Patient Care Technician program combines basic knowledge with
applied skills mastered in the classroom and laboratory. Students
will be trained to perform clinical skills such as blood
collection, EKG's, catheterization, recording vital signs and
patient treatments and other tasks related to patient care.
Graduates of the Patient Care Technician program can expect to
find employment opportunities in hospitals, rehabilitation
centers, and placement agencies. Graduates will be certified in
Community CPR and First Aid. Students will also be eligible to
take certification exams to become certified as nursing
assistants, EKG technicians and phlebotomy technicians.
